-And- In- Arrival... That's what the local travelling biznizmen say Alitalia stands for.
I just phoned them and spoke with an irritating imbecile, a FEMALE one, which in some sexist way is WORSE, I guess because (also sexistly) I expect women to somehow be more on the ball, but sheesh..the alitalia phone lady today was totally, and I mean TOTALLY totally, useless. The only wise thing she had to suggest was to call American Airlines instead, which I did, and fortunately spoke with another lady who had some answers.
My beast bags are packed. Surely one of them is over the 23 kilo limit and I'll have to pay for the extra weight. My question for Alitalia was are they going to be able to arrange that my bags are transferred to my Dallas bound AA flight departing from Paris?
Haunting memories of a (Always) Late IN Takeoff flight to Paris Gillian and I once took are inspiring me to pay to insure my bags for the first time in my life..THAT trip we missed our connecting flight in Paris which was bound for SF. Paris sent us to Chicago instead, but that flight too departed tardy and so we missed our connecting Chicago-SF flight. We arrived in SF 15 hours late with no bags for 3 days.
FINE. IF my bags don't arrive in Dallas I'm going to throw a PAY-ME-MONEY-NOW hissy fit. IF my bags don't arrive within 24 hours I'm going shopping and will make AA PAY MORE!!!!
( I still have to do more research on the bags insurance biz.)
USUALLY I prefer to travel light as possible- just carry on is my fave but I figure if everytime I fly to ABQ between now and the time I move there (or anywhere else in the USA) I'll be chipping away at eventual transferring loads. I'll leave some clothes and assorted junk in ABQ when I leave to return to Rome, probably in a couple of boxes in the attic.
Alitalia are not alone--though they've been tryng to get her to marry any other airlines for ages now, with no takers..She has her dearly beloved and far cuter little sister Trenitalia...The freebie paper that is given away on Rome's subway 'Metro''s headlines today state that one half of Italian trains arrive atleast 30 minutes late. On page TWO it said that 8 out of every 10 Italian trains arrive late! ( 6 of them probably around 29 minutes and 58 secs.late)
NOW I understand better WHY Italians DRIVE so fast!
