hope and depression

For weeks now I've been punching data into all sorts of travel fare search engines and airline websites. Orbitz, cheap tickets,SW, Frontier, Delta, BA, openjet, air comet plus, united, AA, studentuniverse, edreams, swissair, ryan air, aerlingus, yahoo farechase etc et-fucking-cetera...I've visited 2 Italian travel agents and one airline office all because I'M attempting to find airfare to ABQ and back for Gillian and I for less than a thousand dollars a piece tax included.
The best I've found is British airways fare to HOUSTON for 764$ but it means we'll have to be in Gatwick from 9PM to 10AM the following morning.
I've seriously considered even renting a car and driving down from Denver with her for the final jaunt if it'll save us a bit of dough. I've looked at USA driving maps for driving from NYC>ABQ, DALLAS>NYC too--nothing works...so far. In the midst of this all out computer investigation I sent a request for help to some certified USA travel agent organisation. One lady responded two days later and so I sent her back an email with more details and outlines promising her a bouquet of flowers if she succeeds in helping us to find what we're after.
